Early Pregnancy Symptoms: How to Spot the First Signs

The earliest signs of pregnancy are pretty vague. To confuse the picture even more, they resemble PMS symptoms. Therefore, it can be hard to tell if you’re pregnant or if you’re just about to get your period.

Early Pregnancy Symptoms Include:

  • A missed period.
  • Sore boobs that feel “fuller.”
  • Nausea.
  • Abdominal “pressure.”
  • Increased urination.
  • A metallic taste in the mouth (fancy name: dysgeusia).

What?! Why? Because pregnancy hormones weirdly change a person’s sense of taste.
  • Implantation bleeding. This is mild spotting that occurs when the rapidly dividing egg burrows into the uterine lining.

Double Take: Implantation bleeding can look like menstrual spotting.

The Bottom Line

If you’re experiencing any of the symptoms described above and it’s been about 4 weeks since the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), take a home pregnancy test.
