I went to Princeton for college, Georgetown University for medical school, and stayed at Medstar Georgetown Hospital for my pediatric residency. I’m now a board-certified pediatrician and an American Academy of Pediatrics Fellow.
After I graduated from my pediatric residency program, I worked in an outpatient clinic at Medstar Georgetown Hospital, providing comprehensive care to kids with complex medical issues. I also led the Pediatric Intern Support Group at Georgetown for several years, using my background in mindfulness to provide mental health resources to first year residents. I have now turned my full attention to PediaWise in an effort to connect with a larger community and to help as many people navigate the ups & downs of pregnancy and raising children as possible.
I had a difficult start to my first pregnancy. Instead of “glowing,” I was puking into a trash can and reading everything I could on the Internet about a complication that I had, looking for guidance & reassurance. Unfortunately, I wound up with a lot more questions and anxiety than I started with. The information was confusing, conflicting, and often unreliable.
So Why Didn’t You Just Talk To Your Doctor? Even though my OB/GYN was great, it was early on in my pregnancy and there wasn’t much she could do except wait and see if my pregnancy “stuck.” Plus, I didn’t want to “bother” her with too many questions. To make matters worse, I was embarrassed that, as a medical student, I was getting my info about pregnancy through non-medical sources & chat rooms, rather than medical journals.
Now with two kids, a medical degree, and several years of experience seeing patients under my belt, it’s my mission to use my personal & professional experiences to help people find more joy, support, and ease on their own pregnancy & parenting journeys.
1. Provide a one-stop shop for all of your pregnancy & parenting needs.
2. Bring you trustworthy and digestible information so you don’t have to go searching for it yourself.
3. Support your family’s mental, social, and emotional wellbeing, in addition to their physical health.
4. Offer an insider’s perspective on how prenatal providers & pediatricians approach healthcare issues. We’ll talk about the “why” behind things, not just the “what.”
5. Build a heart-centered community of expectant parents and parents of young children who raise each other up within an inclusive and judgment-free space.
Our PediaGuides include everything you need to know to feel informed and empowered during pregnancy and the early years of parenting.
